Pastors in Africa are not only theologians, but also teachers, counsellors, spiritual and social development aid workers, as well as conflict mediators in cases of societal emergencies and problems. They are people who preach the word of God and provide comprehensive care for people in society and respect them. They are urgently needed in Africa.
The theological training in Mozambique is intended to give young men and women qualified training for pastoral service.
The Convenca Bautista de Mozambique (CBM) is the supporter of three bible schools in Beira, Maputo and Nampula. In Tete, a new training programme initiated by teachers was introduced and soon developed into a bible school.
The training of evangelists and pastors has three focal points that are geared to the students’ situation.
There are difficulties caused by the lack of school material, too few books, a lack of teachers and financial problems. Some buildings are in need of renovation and do not have either toilets or drinking water.
The EBM pursues the theological training thanks to the dedication shown by Isabel and Eduardo Melo.
