More than 50 years have elapsed since the Machado couple, pastors, started taking in the first orphans. What began then in obedience and trust in God turned out to benefit many children over the years, in the end also those who were stranded in Portugal after the chaos of war in Angola and Mozambique. Thanks to the big building which was erected in the end, appr. 100 children now have a roof over their heads. All of them come from the most adverse of adverse environments – orphans, street children and children who had to be saved because of abuse and crime in their families.

At present, some 60 children aged 1 to about 20 are being cared for and looked after with love. Medical, psychological and social care is provided, and vocational training or university studies are made possible. They can stay in the home as long as they need to live on their own.
