Disaster relief

Disaster relief South America and Latin America

It happens time and again: Disasters such as earthquakes, landslides, hurricanes, floods, and tsunamis devastate landscapes and vital infrastructure.

Peru, e.g., is frequently subject to extraordinary climatic tragedies. There are terrible droughts or dreadful downpours. Awfully cold winters likewise entail dramatic consequences for life in this country. Besides these weather-related disasters, the country has also been affected by earthquakes.

MASA tries to provide quick assistance whenever there is great need: seeds, food, medical care for people and animals, buildings materials for devastated villages… -the list is long.

Another example: Cuba. MASA also gave assistance in the emergencies following the hurricanes in 2008: At first by delivering food, drinking water and medicine, later on by delivering 5,000 sq.m of corrugated sheets so that people might again have a roof over their heads.

In this way, we help the local churches to take Jesus’ love to those in need in a very practical way by supporting them through money, relief supplies and prayers.

In order to be able to respond immediately we keep collecting donations and transfer them to a disaster relief fund.
