Pastors in Africa are not only theologians, but also teachers, counsellors, spiritual and social development aid workers, as well as conflict mediators in cases of societal emergencies and problems. They are people who preach the word of God and provide comprehensive care for people in society and respect them.  They are urgently needed in Africa.

Since the beginning of 2009, the EBM has supported three newly appointed homeland missionaries of the Baptist Convention of Malawi (BACOMA). After the good experiences in recent years, where three missionaries founded over one hundred congregations, BACOMA decided to promote evangelisation and the foundation of congregations by appointing three pastors in three new regions. Pastor Wisted Chipangula and his family are in the Nsanje district, in the southern-most part of Malawi. In Nsanje, a few months ago, they founded a congregation and now already have 25 members. They anticipate further growth. In the south-western part of Malawi, in the Thyolo district, pastor Barnet Kachaso is working with his family. Pastor Andrew Kamanga is responsible for evangelisation and the foundation of congregations in the north, in the Chitipa district. Additionally, pastors are responsible for the ongoing education of pastors and congregation leaders.
