Bible school Mokong in Cameroon

Pastors are not only theologians, but also teachers, counsellors, spiritual and social development aid workers, doctors, as well as conflict mediators in cases of societal emergencies and problems. People who preach the word of God and provide comprehensive care for people in society and respect them are urgently needed in Africa.

Evangelists are trained in the bible school in Mokong (Institute Biblique Mokong). Evangelists have the task of going to remote regions and villages and preaching the Gospel there and founding congregations. Each academic year, 20 students take courses at the Mokong bible school. When completing the three-year course, each student receives the “Brevet en Théologie” (Degree in Theology). With this diploma, the graduates can officially work as evangelists in the Union Eglises Baptistes du Cameroun (UEBC).

The bible school has three classrooms, a reading and conference room that is also used as a library, and accommodations for students and teachers.

The married bible students are given small apartments on the campus for their families. They receive financial support that must, however, be applied for.  In cases of illness, the bible school assumes the costs up to a certain amount, and, in the case of married students, for their family members, too.

The married women in the bible school also receive training. They learn French, are taught in the areas of nutrition and hygiene. This also includes the keeping of small animals and horticulture, and they take bible study courses. This education also allows them to find a job, improve their families’ living situation and support their husbands.
