Mobile eyesight saving work in Nellore

Mobile eyesight saving work - Aid for INDIA

Initially, INDIENHILFE (INDIA AID) supported one eye clinic of its own in Nellore. After roughly 10 years, that is, in the middle of 2003, this work was continued as a mobile saving-eyesight service. So-called eye camps in sometimes remote villages are held, particularly in the congregations of the Nellore Baptist Field Association. During these camps, impoverished patients are examined and sometimes immediately treated in the event of easier diseases or illnesses. Selected patients are then driven to a private clinic in Nellore where they are operated on. Our partner Nellore Baptist Field Association also assumes the cost of the return trip and follow-up treatment.

This service is run by very experienced doctors Dres. Lalitha and Devaraj Voola. In 2009 alone, 921 cataract operations were performed. Before the operations, over 4,200 patients were examined in the 12 camps. This means that a person can regain his or her precious eyesight for less than 30 euros.
