In northern Peru, in „Cáceres del Perú” Province, MASA has launched another missionary project together with the churches there and the Baptist Union of Peru. Hugo Mondoñedo is in charge of this project. He already cares for six mission stations. Jimbe is the central location for all the missionary activities in this region. Evangelism and social commitment are sought-after – in MASA projects, they are always intertwined.

Most of the people here – descendants of the Incas – are very poor. Idolatry, hidden in religious practices, has bound and enslaved them. As a result of forced Christianization, there was a blend of Catholicism and the ancient religions. Gods and spirits were given new names and venerated as saints. Alcoholism is also a severe problem which causes great suffering. The Gospel is apt to free them – many people have experienced it already.
