Salvation Army Children's Homes

“Ray of Hope” children’s home in Vansada

Besides the free feeding programmes, the partnership between INDIENHILFE and the Salvation Army also extends to five children’s homes in which a total of over 230 children have a place. Three of these homes are located in the state of Andhra Pradesh in Gudivada, Rajahmundry and Tanuku. The other two are in Western India in the vicinity of Mumbai (Bombay) in Pune and Vansada.

The homes are furnished very modestly and differ in their composition: There are two girls' homes and two boys' homes. Originally, they mostly consisted of children from poor farm labourer families which were members of the Salvation Army. In the meantime, however, Hindu children were increasingly admitted as the homes residents. Furthermore, there is a co-ed home, for Adivasi boys and girls.

The goal is to return a bit of normalcy to these children and use the loving environment to prepare them for an independent life. The invitation to pursue this life together with Jesus Christ is extended to all children.
